If you’re looking for a year-round destination that offers a ton of outdoor adventure, history, hands-on museums, and unique cultural experiences, you’ll find Vancouver , Canada, a city that truly caters to families. At the current 2025 rate of the US dollar ($1.00) to the Canadian dollar ($1.45) your vacation funds will also go a lot further towards the cost of meals, lodging, and activities.
Start at Stanley Park
One of the world’s largest urban parks, Stanley Park has been the focal point of Vancouver since 1888. Located smack-dab in the center of the city, there are a gazillion things for families to do and you could probably spend the entire day in this natural sanctuary.
Vast green spaces, beaches, walking and biking trails, restaurants, and local wildlife await you. Check out the splash pads, pools, and tennis courts. Locals and visitors throng to the Seawall, the longest waterfront path on the planet, for exquisite views of the Vancouver skyline. To keep the Seawall from total chaos, it’s divided by walkers and joggers (closest to the water), and cyclists and inline skaters (inside path). Rent a bike and ride along.
Stanley Park was once home of indigenous tribes. Stand in awe of the nine First Nation Totem Poles that tell a story of the area’s history at Brockton Point. Ride the Stanley Park Train around the forest. Take a horse-drawn carriage tour. During the summer, a hop-on-hop off trolley lets you explore the park’s history.
When it’s raining, head to the Vancouver Aquarium with more than 120 indoor and outdoor exhibits. Learn about the wonders of wildlife from around the world, and check out the 4D Theatre. Watch your kids’ become explorers in the amazing Amazon in a simulated thunderstorm.
Go Higher at the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park
Listed among the top attractions in British Columbia, the Capilano Suspension Bridge is a must-see. This world-famous swinging 450-foot-long Suspension Bridge crosses high above the Capilano River and walking across is something your family will long remember.
Head to Treetop Adventures with its seven suspension bridges connected by tree-top platforms for a breathtaking canopy walk. The views are spectacular while giving your kids a new perspective on Mother Nature as they swing from the trees.
If you’d rather stay grounded, there are plenty of hiking trails. The truly brave can stand on the edge of nature on the Cliff Walk or discover more about the gentle ecosystem in the Living Forest exhibit.
It’s easier than ever to get up to Capilano Park with the free shuttle that departs throughout the day from Canada Place and nearby hotels. The ride takes about 25 minutes.
Note: Get your tickets in advance. All attractions are included in your admission ticket.
Flyover Canada at Canada Place
The Flyover experience has been taking the world by storm in cities across North America. If you’re visiting Vancouver, don’t miss Flyover Canada, which offers two films. This immersive flying journey is filled with unforgettable scenery, and breathtaking moments.
Explore the Asian Night Market
One of the great things about Vancouver is its diversity, specifically its large Asian population. You’ll find Asian influence everywhere especially when looking for kid-friendly restaurants. There are more than 700 sushi restaurants in Vancouver! See the view of the Night Market in that gorgeous header photo above.
Take the kids to the Asian Night Market in nearby Richmond, only on Friday – Sunday nights, opening April – October. Food stands and kiosks let you dine on everything Asian, along with loads of fun shopping, and live entertainment.
Have Fun at Granville Island
Hop on the Aquabus (like a water taxi) or a False Creek Ferry to explore Granville Island. First stop should be the Public Market with farmer’s stalls, fresh fish, and artisan goods. Look for the multi-level Kids Market with an Adventure Zone playground, arcade games, and bumper cars. Hang out at the world’s largest FREE water park.

Discover Science World
Kids ask lots of questions and a trip to Science World promotes STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art & design, and math). The iconic geodesic dome welcomes you. Inside, you’ll find interactive, hands-on exhibits like Earth Matters, BodyWorks and Eureka! will mesmerize your kids. Check their calendar for the full schedule.
